Melkam Ghena... Melkin Yelidet Beaal...

Enkwan laberhana ledat abaqqawot ... Enquine le gena adersashewu... Merry Christmas, in so many different ways in Amharic!

January 7 is Christmas Day in Ethiopia. As Christmas Eve, today begins the celebrations. Earlier this morning, a big party was held at Children's Hope's transition home, House of Hope, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The children, staff, and one of our traveling adopting families enjoyed the day, beginning with a church prayer service and singing at the House of Hope. There was also much food and fun to be had. A group on a mission trip visited the House of Hope giving out gifts to the children, reading stories, and making this a wonderful day for the staff and children.

Now is a good time to think about Ethiopian traditions that you’d like to incorporate into your homes and celebrations. Find some celebration ideas on eHow.com.
